By Chris Megginson
News from Campbellsville University

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Campbellsville University athletics is expanding once again. Co-ed collegiate bass fishing will become CU's next intercollegiate varsity sport, beginning in 2014-15, Rusty Hollingsworth, CU athletic director, announced Tuesday, April 15, 2014.

Campbellsville student anglers have participated in the CU Fishing Club since 2010, but this announcement will make Campbellsville the first co-ed athletic department-supported fishing program in Kentucky, and one of the few in the nation to offer scholarships. There are nine other schools in Kentucky and more than 600 nationwide to offer competitive fishing, mostly as school clubs.

From Mike Stephens, Candidate for Democratic Nomination for Adair CJE

The 600 jobs lost at Jamestown is hard for our community but we just received the GREATEST news after years of waiting. Lake Cumberland is back to full pool and that means full tourism economy (many of us can remember when the seasonal traffic count was measured in millions on highway 127 before we had to drain the pond).

Remembering Grover Gilpin, from one of his pupils of life

So Sorry to hear of the passing of Grover Gilpin, I was one of his pupils of life as were many of my friends. He could remember names and places better at age 95 than I could at 50 years old. He taught me how politics works, as did his old partner and my cousin, the late Pete Walker. Their two minds worked in tandem like a great pair of pulling mules and fed off of each other. I sat through many a class at the old Circle R to learn some of his great wisdom. He had a great feel for how things worked. - Ralph Roy Waggener
