Tommie Burton, Adair County, KY (1936-2014)

He was a member of a large, respected Northeast Adair County, KY, family. He was a long time shop operator, farmer, logger and furniture merchant. He was the son of hte late Zack & Emma Willis Burton. and the widower of Margie Lewis Burton and Nona Rodgers Burton. He leaves 29 direct living descendants.

Tommie Burton age 78 years of Columbia, KY passed away, Monday April 14, 2014 at 7:59pmCT, at his home.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 18, 2014 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Junior Holmes the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Bearwallow Cemetery, 6090 Liberty Road, Collumbia, KY. Visitation will be after 3:30pmCT, Thursday, April 17, 2014, at the funeral home.


Pallbearers: Kevin Burton, Dale Cowan, Tommy Wayne Burton, Ralph Curry, Donnie Ray Burton, Frankie Burton and Kenney Burton.

Honorary Pallbearers: Mikie Burton, Lonnie Burton, Steve Curry, Rodger Burton, Ronnie Cowan, Lewis Burton & William Albert Burton.

He was born Thursday, March 12, 1936. He was the son of the late Zack & Emma Willis Burton. He died Monday, April 14, 2014, at the age of 78 years, 1 month, and 2 days.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter Carole Neat; two sons, James Burton & Barry Burton; and his wives Margie Lewis Burton & Nona Rodgers Burton He is survived by he following:
  • Three daughters: Sandra Neat and her husband Jimmy of Columbia, KY; Jenny Stotts of Campbellsville, KY; and Bernadine Burton of Campbellsville, KY

  • Special friends: Pat Wethington of Columbia, KY and Danny Fisher of Russell Springs, KY

  • Three sisters

  • Three brothers

  • Ten grandchildren

  • Sixteen great grandchildren

  • Several nieces, nephews, host of other relatives

  • And friends in Adair County and from Russell County Auction, and Hosparus of Green River
He was a long time shop operator, farmer, logger and furniture merchant.
