Grover C. Gilpin, 96, of Columbia, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 12:20amCT, at Summit Manor Health & Rehab, Columbia, KY.

Funeral servies will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Neil Janes officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation after 5pmCT, Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the funeral home.



Grover C. Gilpin, 96, Adair Co., KY (1917-2014)


He was born October 15, 1917, in Green County, KY. He was the son of the late C.D. & Beatrice Anna Hancock Gilpin. He died Tuesday, April 15, 2014, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 96 years, 6 months.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Furkins Gilpin on August 13, 1997, and a sister, Elizabeth Monroe.

He was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church, a United States Army Veteran serving during WWII, a retired farmer, a life member of V.F.W. Post 6097, a member of Columbia Lodge #96, a member and former chairman of the Adair County Democratic Party and a member of the Adair County Livestock Association.

He is survived by:
  • One son: Mike Gilpin of Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Dean Ryan of Louisville, KY

  • Two nieces: Pam Tallman of Louisville, KY, and Gail McDaniels of Franklin, TN
Expressions of sympathy are requested to be in the form of a donation to Lindsey Wilson College or Columbia United Methodist Church. These may be left at the funeral home.
