Bliss, KY storm report: There was hail, and property damage

So far, no reports of injuries to people. Most of damage at Miss Victoria's farm was to buildings. She, Gertrude, and Myrtle Cat Pike were hiding under the bed, thanks to the early warning call from Greg Thomas

By Victoria Pike

Most of the damage here at our farm was to the west side of buildings with vinyl siding from the large hail. The cattle seem to be ok. I opened the barn but they were too scared to go in. Checked in on some of the neighbors and most all have window, siding and roof damage. I am just glad we didn't have a touch down and loss of life.

Dr. Frazier suggests three options for Russian translation

About: A Love Story: My Sweetheart is coming soon, from Ukraine

From Linda Waggener

Dr. DeWayne P. Frazier, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at Campbellsville University, has suggested three possible Russian language speakers who are at Campbellsville University, who might be able to help Charles Miller. The choice would depend on the amount of work and whether the need is for "professional" translation or more informal, where cost is a factor.

  • Former Campbellsville University adjunct faculty member, Mr. Gordon Smith, teaches Russian here for us occasionally and he is a US Citizen (Canadian born) and his wife is our community historian.
  • A Campbellsville University MA in TESOL student Lyudmila Ivanyuk might be an good choice. She is a student.
  • Also, Dr. Tetayana Olyink in the CU TESOL department is an expert in Russian and English written language.
Any way I can personally help, let me know -

Linda Waggener, CU. Cell phone 270-403-0017

NWS Expects Severe Storms This Afternoon

The National Weather Service in Louisville, KY, has issued a strongly worded warning about the possibility of severe weather this afternoon for much of Kentucky, including Adair and surrounding counties.

A cold front is approaching our area from the west. Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to erupt along of or ahead of the cold front this afternoon, most likely around the I-65 corridor during the early afternoon hours, between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. CST. These storms are expected to reach south-central Kentucky most likely after 3:00 p.m. CST, and bring with them a likelihood of large hail and damaging winds. Some tornadic activity is expected, and meteorologists note the possibility of heavily damaging long-track tornadoes.

According to the NWS bulletin issued at 8:18 a.m. CST, "It cannot be stressed enough that there is a significant threat for severe and tornadic thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Please stay abreast of the current situation..."

Hazardous weather bulletins from the NWS can be viewed at Weather.gov.
