Irene F. Guffey, Adair Co., KY native (d. Feb. 29, 2012)

She was member of a large, highly regarded family. A native of Adair County, she was a daughter of the late John and Emma Streeval Harmon, an assembler for Safetran, an avid Republican, past president of the Red Bud Neighborhood Association and a Baptist by faith.

Irene F. Guffey, 79, of Louisville, died Wednesday, February 29, 2012.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 10amET/9amCT, at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway Louisville, KY with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery, 701 Baxter Avenue, Louisville, KY.Visitation from 2pm-8pmET/1pm-7pmCT, Friday, March 2, 2012, at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home.



A native of Adair County, she was a daughter of the late John and Emma Streeval Harmon, an assembler for Safetran, an avid Republican, past president of the Red Bud Neighborhood Association and a Baptist by faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Randall Guffey and her son, Glenn Guffey.

Survivors include:
  • One daughter: Karen Guffey of Louisville, KY

  • Grandson: Aaron (Julie) Guffey

  • One brother: Gilbert Harmon of Columbia, KY

  • Three sisters: Shirley Farris of Bowling Green, Pauline McCutchen & Bertha Hiser both of Hart County, KY
