The event for children through grade six promoted literacy and fun. She was the matriarch of a large, highly regarded Taylor County family and widow of Closkey Colvin. She leaves 39 direct living descendants. She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Palestine Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and Metzmeier Nursing Home

Adair Schools may be facing another round of budget cuts

Congress has imposed 'sequestration' measures which could impose $1.2 trillion in budget cuts, which may mean automatic 7.8 percent cuts in Federal aid to schools

Superintendent Alan Reed said the Adair County School District is soon likely be facing across the board cuts in the district's federal programs. The district will know the percentage of these cuts by Jan. 2, 2013.

She was a native of Adair County, KY, a member of a very large, highly regarded family. Besides her husband, Dick Scholl, she leaves 10 direct living descendants among her many survivors. She was a resident of Russell County, KY and had deep strong roots in Russell, Adair, and Taylor Counties of South Central Kentucky and beyond. She was employed by Walmart and by Fruit of the Loom. She was a member of Columbia Christian Church. Interment will be at Freedom Cemetery in Eastern Adair County, KY

Connor Anderson is a nine year old boy who is battling a recurrence of cancer. He is a student at the Adair County Elementary School and faces exploratory surgery tomorrow. To support Connor and his family during this surgery, a special prayer meeting has been planned by the Adair County Ministerial Association for 6:30amCT on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at ACES, 870 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY. The whole community is invited to join in prayer for the success of the surgery and for Connor's overall healing. ADAIR Band 1st at West Regional; advances to Sweet Sixteen

After the first round of KMEA State competition ADAIR Band was in the top 8 to advance to Semi-finals this upcoming weekend. Russell County and Taylor County also advanced. It should be a great competition next weekend in the Sweet 16 - Shamarie Claiborne

The ADAIR Band performed brilliantly at the West Regional Competition at Hart County High School, Munfordville, KY, on Saturday, October 20, 2012, and came in 1st Place in the KMEA West Regional Competition.

They join 7 other West Regional AAA bands and 8 East Regional Bands for State Semifinals Competition Saturday, October 27, 2012, at Allen County-Scottsville, KY, and hopefully, in the State Finals in Bowling Green on Saturday night.

LWC fell to 2-6 on the season and 0-3 in the Mid-South Conference West. Belhaven improved to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in the MSC.
