News from the Adair County Garden Club

The Adair County Garden Club is making progress on their newest garden project the "Springhouse Herb Garden" located on the grounds of the historic Trabue-Russell House, 201 Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY

"Building an herb garden on this scale takes a great deal of cooporation" reports Barbara Armitage of the Adair County Garden Club. "Both the city and the county have come together to help the ACGC build what may well become one of the finest herb gardens in the state".

This new garden will honor a nearly forgotten landmark in Adair County. The Eubank Spring House, once a 200 year old Kentucky Landmark, it has existed for more than a decade only as a photo memory in the county's history books. This new herb garden will feature both culinary and medicinal herbs and will be open to the public.

Although the herb garden won't be considered complete until the spring of 2013 when the summer annual herbs are planted we invite you all to stop by the Trabue House to check its progress. Volunteers are excited about this new project and work is progressing quickly. Be sure to keep an eye on Columbia Magazine to watch our garden grow.

If you are an herb gardener and would like to donate plants to the Spring House Herb Garden please contact Barbara Armitage at 270-250-2979. - Barbara Armitage
