SOUTH 61 ISSUE: re Ralph Waggener article Paducah comment

Paducah hasn't got a thing on Columbia

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

Well, maybe most Adair Countians ain't been to Paducah, but I have and with Ol' Joe's BBQ place now open, Paducah hasn't got a thing on Columbia. Their stream is a bit larger than Russell Creek, but when you get deeper than baptizing depth, it don't really matter.

NORTH 61: Another writer worries about intersection design

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I believe the same as the writer about the new intersection design on North 61. I called the state highway department in Somerset last week and they said that part is finished and that is how its going to be. Everyone needs to call them and voice their concerns. Somerset's office phone number is (606) 677-4017 ask for Bruce Neeley.

NORTH 61: Writer worries about intersection design

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Since we are discussing South 61. I would like to talk about the section of North 61 that has just been completed.

I would very much like to know the name of the State Engineer who designed the new section previously called the "Y" -- the road that connects Greensburg ST, Hudson ST, and Greensburg RD.

As far as I am concerned it is foolishly designed and very dangerous.

SOUTH 61 ISSUE: John BAM Carney says situation is a shame

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I have followed the comments of all sides on the cancellation of the KY 61 project, which would have completed the Adair County road to from the parkway to Sparksville.

It is a shame that this happened, especially after all the millions of dollars were spent on land purchases and design of the highway. Basically this shows why people have lost confidence in government.

SOUTH 61 ISSUE: BJ Fudge meets with Governor on projects

Democratic candidate for 51st District Representative says Gov. Beshear is committed to completing S. 61 project; is impressed with Governor's understanding of situation

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

I like all other Adair Countians was shocked when I heard that the South Hwy. 61 construction project was terminated. I know that multiple millions of dollars have already been spent and many families, lives, and livelihoods have already been disrupted with nothing to show for their sacrifices.

SOUTH 61 ISSUE: We ran out of money? Say it ain't so

Is money just 'corrupt' when it's spent in Southern Kentucky?

By Ralph R. Waggener

We ran out of money! Just as we have for 50 years.

Only three governors have seen Adair County as important

Seems like Happy Chandler, Louie Nunn and Ernie Fletcher are the only governors who saw Adair County as important. Fletcher sent more road money to Adair County than any other governor. Of course, The Courier Journal and The Lexington-Herald went after him because he was "corrupt."

SOUTH 61 PROJECT: Comment from CJE Ann Melton

By Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton

I usually don't respond to people who make negative comments about me as I believe everyone has a right to their individual opinions.

The Feedback on ColumbiaMagazine.com, "Payback is hell," from L.T. Grider, brings a light to the ugliness of a situation we are experiencing here in Adair County.

Surely Mr. Grider doesn't believe our Highway 61 project got cut in the name of politics.

Comment: Tobacco harvest scene at Knifley, KY

    About: Harvesting tobacco, Knifley, KY

    ColumbiaMagazine.com:

This picture touched me in a way that not many would understand. Not only is it a beautiful picture, it is a part of my past that I miss everyday. During our tobacco growing days I couldn't wait to get to the age where I didn't have to do this anymore. Now, what I would give to have one day back with my dad, mom and three brothers in a tobacco field. So many times we don't realize the memories that are being made until years later. Thank you and Linda for listening to me, especially when I am missing my youth and my home.
