Click on headline for story with chart listing recruits, hometowns

By Charles Balcom
News from Lindsey Wilson College

COLUMBIA, KY - Forty-nine student-athletes have signed an NAIA scholarship to play football at Lindsey Wilson College, Blue Raider head coach Chris Oliver announced today. "This is the deepest class we've ever secured by National Signing Day," Oliver said. "This group as a whole possesses a lot of talent, and we will certainly see some of these guys come in and push for spots in the fall. When you can stack good recruiting classes one after another, then the depth on your roster can really develop.

"I believe that today's signing class will help us with that process as we head into the sixth season of Blue Raider football." The 49 student-athletes come from seven states -- Kentucky (21), Alabama (10), Tennessee (9), Indiana (3), Ohio (3), Georgia (2) and Florida (1).

Has a strong group of volunteers and supporters

There is an excellent animal shelter in Barren County. It is called Barren River Animal Welfare Association, BRAWA. I have adopted animals from this shelter and the one thing it has is a strong group of volunteers and supporters. We can only hope that the people in this area will support the one in Adair not just use it to drop off their unwanted animals. - REBECCA GRANT

Whitfield votes to repeal Affordable Care Act - Obamacare

See also, opposing viewpoint in Washington Post article: With latest Obamacare repeal vote, GOP sets 'record’'for futility

By Marty Irby
News from Marty Irby

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, voted today for the passage of H.R. 596, a bill that would repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and health care-related provisions in the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010. In addition to repealing "Obamacare." in its entirety, this legislation also lays the groundwork for the appropriate Committees of jurisdiction to craft a serious, common-sense health care alternative. Whitfield, who was an original cosponsor of H.R. 596, issued the following statement upon passage.

"Obamacare has been a disastrous policy," said Whitfield. "The reality of this law is one trillion dollars in tax hikes, seven hundred billion dollars in Medicare cuts, tens of thousands of pages of new regulations, higher premiums, dropped coverage, and still forty-two million uninsured. This law needs to be repealed and replaced with common-sense alternatives that will strengthen our health care system and empower patients with more choices."
