He was a native of the Kettle Community of Cumberland County, KY, and a resident of Neeley Creek Community in Clay County, TN, at the time of his death. He was a member of the Waterview Church of Christ and a farmer. His wife of over 55 years, Betty Holman Crawford, survives. He leaves 8 direct living descendants.

Funeral services for Willie James Crawford will be conducted on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 1pmCT, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with Bro. Raymond Castillo officiating. Congregational song leadership will be provided by Bro. Jerry Willis. The family will receive friends after 3pmCT, on Sunday, December 15, 2013 until the funeral hour on Monday. Burial will be in the Crawford Family Cemetery in Clay County, Tennessee.

  • Bad debts collected in house total over $23,000 for year

The CAUD Board met in a brief but productive session this evening at which a new Waste Water Plant Manager was hired a bid was awarded for renovation of Downtown water lines and meters, and a date was set for opening bids on the landslide above the wastewater plant and the creek bank project, among other more routine actions.

Dallis R. Wilson age 80, Metcalfe Co., KY (d. Dec. 10, 2013)

He was a Metcalfe County native, a member of a large, prominent family. He was the son of hte late Sherman and Myrtie Hubbard Wilson. His death leaves former Judge Woodrow Wilson the last surviving 12 siblings. His wife of 62 years, Ruth Shaw Wilson survives. He leaves 20 direct living descendants. He was a retired construction worker

Dallis R. Wilson age 80, of Florence, KY, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be held 12pmCT, Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Hubbard Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10amCT until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Remembers vocational school in Celina, TN

High School students built a house each year and sold it at the end of the term. He thinks this had a lot to do with how quickly the Honest Abe packaged home company in Moss, TN, grew to be one of the biggest in the U.S.

I wish I could have attended the vocational school support meeting but I have been sick with a sinus infection and did not feel like getting out. Years ago when I was running The Clay Statesman in Celina, TNm The Clay County School System had a vocational school.

What I remember the most was that each year the Vocational School students built a house and sold it at the end of the school year.

Mr. Bradley Burris, Green Co., KY, (1946-2013)

He was the son of the late Raymond Burris and Lovetta Kemp Burris. His wife of 43 years, Jerlene Vaughn Burris, survives. He leaves 1 direct living descendant. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. He was a former mechanic for Fruit of the Loom, Inc., and maintenance for Golden Living Center-Green Hill. He was also a former veteran in the Army National Guard.

He was 66 years, 11 months, and 10 days of age.

ACSO investigates 2 vehicle injury collision

Wreck occurs at intersection of KY 55 & KY 704

A two-pickup injury collision occurred at approximately 9amCT, Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at the intersection of KY 55 S and KY 704, just south of the limits of Columbia, KY.

Matthew Coffey, 29 years of age, Columbia, KY, was operating a 2002 Nissan pickup when he lost control in a curve. The vehicle crossed the roadway, striking a 1989 Dodge Pickup, operated by 55 year old Charles Kelsay, head on.

Coffey was transported to Westlake Regional Hospital where he was treated and released. Kelsay did not report any injuries. Adair County Deputy Sheriff B.J. Bray

Adair Fire Department battles two early morning blazes

Home at 1370 Beechtop Road blaze suffers moderate damage. Second fire call was to 101 East 80, to a residential structure which was total loss. Breeding Fire Department members aid effort.

The Adair County Fire Dept responded to two separate house fires during the early morning hours of Thursday morning, December 12, 2013

Fire I: 1370 Beechtop Road
The first fire occurred at 01:28amCT at 1370 Beechtop Road, Columbia, KY. The original call was for a flu fire, upon arrival house was on fire in roof area as well, The home was owned by Robert Fletcher there were 13 firemen on the scene for around three hours and the home received moderate damage.

Fire II: 101 E 80 Drive
While battling the first fire we received a call for a second fire at 101 East 80 Drive, Columbia, KY owner information available (James C. Holladay estate owner - CM, per Larry Smith, 99.9 FM); the call for this fire was received at 02:08 upon arrival house was engulfed in flames and was a total loss, There were 17 firemen on the scene along with members of the Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department. - Donald Hare

Lydia Brooke Kerr, newborn, (d. Dec. 10, 2013)

Lydia Brooke Kerr newborn daughter of Kevin and Lacie Dubre Kerr, died Monday, December 10, 2013.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her paternal grandparents, J.E. and Millie Kerr, and maternal grandparents Watson and Debbie Dubre, maternal great grandparents, Wallace Dubre and Sam and Clarice White. She is also survived by uncles, Randy (Kim) Kerr, Elizabethtown, Wesley (Carla) Dubre and Brad (Tessa) Dubre: aunts, Susan (David) Hammer, Glasgow and Misty Dubre as well as numerous cousins.

Graveside services will be held later. McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, in charge of arrangements.

There was a extraordinarily strong showing of public support, with community leaders from almost all walks of life packing the Adair Annex Basement for the meeting, a preliminary to Tuesday nights Adair Fiscal Court meeting.

For most in the packed courtroom, it was being described as a dream come true.

Frank Page Smith (1924 - 2013)

South Central Kentucky has lost one of its most distinguished citizens. Frank Page Smith professed faith in Christ and in 2011, was honored for being the oldest, continuous male member of Campbellsville Baptist Church. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and was discharged during World War II. He was a member of the Pitman Masonic Lodge #124 F&AM for more than sixty years. He was a retired building contractor, developing three subdivisions, Green Acres, Holly Brook and Cedar Creek. and opening two streets, Southern Drive and Oriole Lane. He built approximately five hundred houses in and around Campbellsville. He served on the Campbellsville Housing Board for forty years. He was Taylor County Fair Board president and was on the board of directors of Citizens Bank and Trust Company. His marriage to Nell Tapscott endured 71 years. He leaves 13 direct living descendants.

Frank Page Smith, 88 a resident of Campbellsville his entire life and winter resident of Naples, Florida, died at 11:22amET, Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Avow Hospice Home in Naples, Florida after an extended illness.

The funeral service will be at 10amCT/11amET, Saturday, December 14, 2014 at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, by Dr. Mike O'Neal and Dr. James Jones. Entombment will be in Brookside Mauseleum, West Main Street, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET at the funeral home.
