Carl Meece, 72, Casey County, KY (1941-2013) Carl was a farmer and a member of the Baptist faith. He served as Deputy Sheriff for 4 years under Ray Overstreet and then served as Sheriff of Casey County for 16 years. Carl also served as Casey County Judge Executive for 4 years. He was also a former member of the Masonic Lodge. He was the son of the late Henry and Sylvia Richardson Meece. His dear wife of over 55 years, Carol Roy Meece, survives. He leaves 4 direct living descendants. She's a member of Columbia Baptist Church, and the mother of Christine Wooten, mother in law of Roy Wooten, and grandmother of the four Wooten children. But on November 22, 1963, she was working at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, TX, and witness a chaotic scene in the emergency room that day, the day our President, John F. Over $800 raised in 2nd Cops for Kids By Ofc. Josh Brockman, Public Information Officer Columbia Police Department, Chief, Jason Cross The Columbia Police Department and the City of Columbia has just wrapped up our second "Cops For Kids" fundraiser with a very successful chili and vegetable soup lunch. Today well over 100 lunches were delivered in Columbia bringing in over 800.00 dollars with the help of donations. This money will be added to funds raised at Downtown Days where we sponsored a cash drawing. All monies will be used to help families in need ensure that they have a Merry Christmas. Last year was our first year and we were only able to sponsor about 8 families. This year we will well exceed that.
