'Tis the Season...Salvation Army Christmas Kettles

Yes, you can make that difference by simply dropping your donation in the familiar red kettle. Or, mail your donation to: The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1085, Columbia, KY 42728.

By Ellen Zornes

The Salvation Army's major fundraising activity is our Christmas Kettle where community people have always been so gracious to participate by ringing the bell and by dropping your donation in the kettle.

We need you once again!

You can be the difference in the life of a child by helping provide a week of summer camp, a warm coat for winter, school supplies, ensuring all children have a merry Christmas, a senior adult to have the necessities, or be the difference for your neighbor when help is needed most as after a house fire, flood or tornado.

Yes, you can make that difference by simply dropping your donation in the familiar red kettle. Or, mail your donation to: The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1085, Columbia, KY 42728. The Christmas Kettle will be located inside IGA beginning Wednesday, November 27, from now until Christmas and outside Wal-Mart each Saturday beginning December 7 until Christmas. All donations stay in Adair County to be used in our community. If you or your church or organization would like to schedule a time to 'ring' the bell for others, just call Ellen Zornes at 270-250-3400.

The Salvation Army is a nationally recognized all volunteer Christian, nondenominational, charitable organization. Locally our focus is meeting the needs of our community through various programs such as House Fire Assistance, Natural Disaster Relief, Back to School Assistance, Summer Camp, Christmas Angels, Senior Angels and Christmas Kettle Bell Ringing.

The Adair County Unit meets the first Tuesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. in the basement of the Courthouse Annex. If you are interested in becoming a vital part of our local unit, please join us at our next meeting or any monthly meeting.

We would also like to say a very heartfelt "Thank You" to our community for your continued support of our ongoing programs. Without you, we couldn't make a difference! - ELLEN ZORNES
