Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Sharp Wyatt will be conducted on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 2pmCT/3pmET, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with Bro. Randall McPherson and Bro. Rob Speer officiating congregational song leadership will be provided by J.V. Groce. Burial will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery. Project Graduation for 2013 was a huge success, with over $10,500 given away in cash and prizes...not including the free food, given to the Seniors of the Adair County High! A special 'thank you' to the ACHS Class of 2013 and their guests...and the many donors and volunteers who made Project Graduation so much fun and such a success!!

Two hundred forty-five students and student guests attended this alcohol free/drug free event.

News from the Adair County High School Golf Boosters

The Adair County High School Girls and Boys Golf Teams had their annual golf scramble on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at The Pines of Lindsey Wilson. The 12 teams consisting of 48 players were chosen by blind draw, and the winners were as follows:
  • 1st Place - Coon Calhoun, Corey Rodgers, Josh Withers and Boone Coomer with help from Caddie Kaleb Keltner
  • 2nd Place - Leslie Roy, Kenna Richardson, Preston Richardson and Todd Farmer
  • 3rd Place - Jadell Janes, Bob Brian, Larry Neat and Kevin Bell
Some additional fun was played and the winners were:

Closest to the Pin on Par 3 - Josh Withers, Wes Bryant, Mark Sexton and Steve Burton, who each won a set of Titleist Pro V golf balls

Longest Drive - Jamie Yarberry, who won a Nike Hybrid club

Many other nice door prizes were given away to various players throughout the day. Mike Sneed won the Grand Door Prize of 1 Day's Free Pontoon Rental.

The Golf Teams and Boosters wish to say "Thank You" for all of the scramble participants, sponsors, and door prize donors. We greatly appreciate your support for our upcoming golf season. Thanks again. - Nancy Taylor

Adair County Genealogical Society has new book, new postcards

The Adair County Genealogical Society would like to announce their newest book available to the public. "Roots and Branches" Volume 3 Generations. This book contains over 175 pages of 5 generation charts from families in Russell, Adair, Wayne, Pulaski and Cumberland Counties. The new book can be seen at the Adair county Public Library, 307 Greensburg Street, Columbia, Ky. 42728 Monday-Friday, 8am-5pmCT, and Saturdays from 8am-12pm noon CT.

Also available is a "new" set of Columbia-Adair County Courthouse notecards. They are sold in a sets of 8 cards with envelopes. They are Grey background with blue design. CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Lindsey Wilson College athletic director Willis Pooler has been selected by his peers as the 2012-13 Mid-South Conference Athletic Director of the Year.

The honor is the fourth for Pooler since becoming the athletic director at Lindsey Wilson during the 2003-04 academic year.

A select ensemble from the Lindsey Wilson College Singers have accepted an invitation to perform a Memorial Recital and Wreath-laying Ceremony at the American Cemetery at Normandy, France on July 4, 2013. On this D-Day Anniversary, we pause to remember those who fought for the cause of freedom during World War II as well as recognize what a tremendous honor it is to represent Lindsey Wilson College and our local community at Normandy and in the Paris Choral Festival.

Sixty-nine Years Ago Today: D-Day

The largest invasion in history began sixty-nine years ago today. Long planned and stalled by bad weather, Operation Overlord, the invasion of German-occupied France at Normandy by the Allied Forces under direction of General Dwight Eisenhower, was the opening of a second front of fighting in Europe. The movement required a full moon and favorable conditions at sea. The Germans believed an invasion would come at Calais, the closest point between England and France, and they believed could not come at this time due to weather conditions.

Bullitt County Constable sentenced in drug trafficking cases

Latest case grows out of selling heroin from Constable's Mt. Washington, KY home

News from the Office of KY Attorney General Jack Conway

Attorney General Jack Conway and his Office of Special Prosecutions today announced the guilty plea of a Bullitt County Constable on multiple drug charges. Forty-three-year-old Clifton Hudson pled guilty in Bullitt Circuit Court today to one count of trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia, following his arrest on May 28, 2013 for selling heroin to a confidential informant at his Mt. Washington home.

Driver arrested after vehicle destroys Gradyville polling place

He faces multiple charges from incident, after being ejected from westbound vehicle after it left KY 80, hit and destroyed the Gradyville/Nell Voting Place, goes airborne, lands on top of two parked cars at D & F Grocery, and does extensive damages to the vehicles.

Adair County Sheriff Deputy Aaron Rainwater was dispatched to a vehicle accident with injuries at 3:42pmCT, Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 3:42pmCT.

Byron Firkins age 21, of Columbia, KY, was operating a 2000 Honda west on West Kentucky 80/Edmonton Road, when he traveled off the left shoulder of the road. The vehicle then traveled approximately 80 yards through a field where Firkins was ejected from the vehicle.

Susan(Chambers) and Carol(Perkins)- Unscripted on 99.1 the Hoss will be doing their second live broadcast Tuesday morning from 10am-12pm noon CT with guests Jennifer Tinnell, band director at Campbellsville University and former MCHS band member, and Carolyn Best, wife of the late Tim Best, beloved band director at MCHS at one time and founder of Barn Lot Theater.
