D-Day Anniversary Prepares LWC Singers for Normandy visit

Lindsey Wilson Singer will take part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the American Cemetery in Normandy, France, on July 4, 2013. Many Adair Countians took part in the D-Day invasion.

A select ensemble from the Lindsey Wilson College Singers have accepted an invitation to perform a Memorial Recital and Wreath-laying Ceremony at the American Cemetery at Normandy, France on July 4, 2013. On this D-Day Anniversary, we pause to remember those who fought for the cause of freedom during World War II as well as recognize what a tremendous honor it is to represent Lindsey Wilson College and our local community at Normandy and in the Paris Choral Festival.

The students participating in the event are John Brown, Albany, KY; Allison Chafin, Columbia, KY; Amber Clark, Kennesaw, GA; Jeremy Cloyd, Tompkinsonville, KY; Kailyn Conner, Albany, KY; Andrew Ferguson, Columbia, KY; Chelsea Pike, Campbellsville, KY; Emily Ramage, Columbia, KY; Bailey Scott, Auburn, KY; Christian Talley, Columbia, KY; and Lydia Tiller, Columbia, KY.

Frances Glasgow remembers D-Day



2013-06-06 - Columbia, KY - Photo from Lindsey Wilson College. Preparing for LWC Singers July 4, 2013, appearance at the American Cemetery at Normandy Part of the preparation for the performance has been visiting with people in the community who have a direct connection with the D-Day invasion. Below are two photos of our visit with Francis Glasgow, whose husband, Glenn Shirley Glasgow, served as an Army Medic. Pictured with Mrs. Glasgow is Allison Chafin of the Lindsey Wilson Singers. The helmet in the foreground is that of a German soldier found in a fox-hole near Normandy beach by Mr. Glasgow.
