The Adair County Ambulance Service Taxing District will be taking bids on a 2008 Ford, F350 Super Duty ambulance, 6.4 liter power stroke diesel with 112,000 miles. Can be seen Monday thru Friday at the ambulance service at 906 Westlake Dr. Columbia, Ky during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sealed bids need to be in by 4:00 on November 13th, 2012 and will be open that night at the board meeting. Adair County Ambulance Service reserves the right to reject any and all bids.

He attended the Beaumont Methodist Church and was a retired Tinsmith in the Automotive Industry. He was a member of the Gold Wing Chapter of Kokomo and Local 292 Auto Workers Union in Kokomo. He was a Master Mason of New London 283 in London, Indiana

John David Brittain II, age 71 of Willow Shade, died Tuesday, October 16 at home.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 19, 2012, at 2pmCT, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, with cremation to follow. Visitation will be Friday, October 19, 2012, at 7amCT until time for service, at the funeral home.

KSP arrests man after shots fired at neighbor's house

Vine Grove, KY, man said that after drinking a few beers, he decided to retaliate for dispute two or three years ago. Police say he fired several shotgun rounds at the neighbor's house. He was arrested on a Wanton Endangerment charge and lodged in the Meade County Detention Center

Jack E. Smith, Adair County, KY (1932-2012)

He was the patriarch of a large, highly regarded Adair County, KY, family. He leaves nine direct living descendants, with two more expected. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was owner of Jack Smith Trucking, a retired Adair County School Bus Driver, a member of VFW Post 6097, where he was active in the Funeral Honor Guard, served on the Kentucky Farm Bureau Board for 40 years and a farmer. He also enjoyed attending church at Trinity United Methodist Church and Egypt Christian Church

We've been really busy since July of this year, when we last reported on ColumbiaMagazine.com. The Ladies Quilting Circle of the Millerfield Brethren in Christ Church, 1935 Millerfield Road, Columbia, KY had produced and given away approximately 62 quilts at that time. Since then, the total is 94 for the year.

We appreciate all the donations of money and material to the cause.

CATHARINE, KY - Lindsey Wilson College's Sarah Anderson and Taylor Hayne each hit double-digit kills to lead the Blue Raiders to a 3-1 win Tuesday night, October 16, 2012, over host St. Catharine College. The win keeps the Blue Raiders in a second-place tie with Campbellsville University, Campbellsville, KY, and Shawnee State University, Portsmouth, OH, in the Mid-South Conference standings. All three teams are 7-2 and trail Georgetown College who leads the conference at 10-0.
