He was the patriarch of a a large, respected South Adair County family. He leaves six direct living descendants. Mr. Coomer was a member of Emory Chapel United Methodist Church and a retired heavy equipment operator

George Allen Coomer, age 77 years, of the Chance community passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 11:45pm at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY after several weeks illness.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 19, 2012 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Ronnie Janes and Bro. Bobby Withers the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation is after 4pmCT, Thursday, October 18, 2012, at the funeral home.


George Allen Coomer, Adair County, KY (1935-2012)


He was born on February 2, 1935 at Chance in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late John Roy "Buck" and Exie Parrish Coomer. He died Tuesday, October 16, 2012, in Somerset, Pulaski County, KY, at the age of 77 years, 8 months, and 14 days. He is survived by his wife, Lola M. Janes Coomer of Chance, KY, and the following:
  • One son: Richard Coomer of Chance, KY

  • One daughter: Donna Nispuruk of Sauk Villeage, IL

  • brother: Stanley "Butch" Coomer of Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Louise (Jimmy) Murphy of Chicago, IL

  • One grandchild: Jamie Nispuruk

  • Three great grandchildren: Kali, Evelyn and Michael

  • Several nieces, nephews

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death one grandson: John Michael Nispuruk; also by Three brothers and two sisters: Rollen Coomer, John Holland Coomer, Coy O. Coomer, Sally Bennett and Evelyn Vanheck.

Mr. Coomer was a member of Emory Chapel United Methodist Church and a retired heavy equipment operator.
