Storm causes scattered damage

Trees down at several points around county; cable internet down in at least some areas. Internet outage interrupts shipping at Amazon.com in Campbellsville, KY

Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story

(WEDNESDAY, 2011-04-20; 04:44amCT) - The high winds which hit South Central Kentucky caused scattered damage around the area.

With cable internet service out at ColumbiaMagazine.com early this morning, we have been unable to get full assessment on the damage.

However, there are reports of trees down across the road at Wheeler Hill on Burkesville RD and near the old Sparksville School. Kentucky State Highway crews were out during the night clearing the roadway.

For a short time, during the night, WHVE 92.7 the WAVE was off the air, interrupting Daniel Wilson's weather updates.

Workers at Amazon.com in Campbellsville, KY, were sent home when lightning damage in the internet system caused computers to go down, interrupting shipping for several hours.

In Columbia, KY, at this time, a quick check around town showed only a few limbs down, some garbage cans tossed out of yards and driveways. A large tree was reported down in the Bridgepointe development near Majestic Yachts, near the intersection of Adair Veterans Memorial Bypass and Burkesville RD.

Updates will be posted as received or learned. Share news using any Contact/Submit button.
