By Chris Megginson / Campbellsville University Sports Information

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Giving back is nothing new for Country Music legend Vince Gill. The singer/song writer took the stage Friday night at Campbellsville University's Ransdell Chapel in front of a sold-out crowd to raise money for CU athletics' "More Than a Game" fundraising campaign.

Vince Gill, in concert at Campbellsville University

2010-03-26 - Photo by Linda Waggener. Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins AV,Campbellsville University
Country Music Legend Vince Gill took center stage at Ransdell Chapel tonight with his accompanist, John Hobbs, at left, who he introduced as one of the world's great keyboardist. A packed house cheered as Gill sang, visited, and sang again. He got laughs when he mentioned that his famous Christian singer wife, Amy Grant, might have been a better choice for a Baptist school than a fellow whose music had been mostly about drinking and cheating. Gill gave the concert to support Campbellsville University's Athletics Department. The event is the talk of Campbellsville and South Central Kentucky.

Columbia, KY and Chicago, IL: Very different cities

About: Freezing lion photo brings back memories of Chicago

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I too have memories of Chicago. This lion looks just like the two statues of lions at Brookfield Zoo in Chicago. I have a picture of me sitting on top of it when I was a kid. The weather we had this morning felt just like Chicago. It's not called the windy city for nothing. Life is sure different here in Kentucky. Good place to live.

Lower Bull Runner commends Green Co. history

Learned a lot from Lanny Tucker; commends Green Co., KY pride in its local history and preservation work
About History buffs invited to walk the Cumberland Trace

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

Thanks for the announcement! I missed the fall offering of this trip; I don't intend to miss such a great opportunity this Spring. Lanny is a good teacher. I took a Green County history class offered by him and I learned a lot from him and through interaction of the class.

A core of the populous of Green County is quite knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and proud of their local history. "History Amongst Us" is quite a fine collaboation of scholarship and publication, and a "must have" for me!

Edges are good places to see birds

By Wendy Butler Burt
News from Adair County Bird Watchers

Good birdwatching can take place in the comfort of your own home as anyone who participated in the Great Backyard Bird Count knows. But sometimes you want to get out, to see something new. Where should you go? A good rule of thumb is to go someplace with lots of "edge" - someplace like the Corbin's Bend area of the Green River Lake Wildlife Management Area.

"Edge" is where at least two different kinds of habitat intersect - where pasture joins a pine woods, a hayfield meets a brushy hedgerow, where water (stream, lake, wetland) crosses land, etc. Edge provides more food and shelter for more species than any individual habitat. How often have you walked in the deep woods and noticed few birds but, when you start coming out of the woods, you hear lots of birdsong and see birds flitting in and out of the fields and the woods?

The Adair County Bird Watchers will find lots of edge on its birdwalk tomorrow, Saturday, March 27, 2010. The birdwalk will start at 7amCT at Corbin's Bend. The AC Bird Watchers will have the opportunity to walk along the edge of wetlands, the lake, woods, scrubland, fallow fields, etc. We expect to find birds typical of all those habitats and, who knows, we may find a surprise that early morning, early Spring birdwatchers often see. We invite you to join us. -Wendy Burt

The Adair County Bird Watchers will be taking a 1 hour plus bird walk with ornithologist Wendy Butler Burt on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Corbin's Bottoms, 3363 Corbin's Bend RD, Columbia, KY. at 7amCT. For more, see, First ever Adair Co. Bird Watchers, Saturday Bird Walk is March 27, 2010 for more details.
