4-H Leadership Trip to Washington DC

By Tony Rose
News from Adair County Extension Agent

Members of the 4-H Leadership program attended a Leadership Trip to Washington, DC, on March 17-20, 2009. Members who attended the trip were: Noah Richard, Rachel Phipps, Ethan Brown, Brooklynn Burton, Danielle Foster, Cody, Neat, and Kyle Mann. Adults who attended the trip were: Brenda Mann, Gary Mann, Pam Phipps, Janella Brown, Bonnie Robertson, Christy Burton, Tralisa Foster, Sheila Neat, Teresa Richard, Brandi Sullivan, and Reaford Blackburn.

For many of the trip's participants this was the first time they had ever been to Washington DC. During the trip, the group visited many of the monuments, Arlington National Cemetery, the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum and the National Museum of Natural History, and took a tour of the U.S. Capital.

The group had the chance to meet Representative Ed Whitfield and have a picture made with him. Representative Whitfield's office helped organize part of the trip and we really appreciate all the work and help his office gave our group.

Adair County can be very proud of this outstanding group of young people and how they represented our community. Youth who got the chance to participate in the trip have been participating in the 4-H Leadership program this past year. Some of them have been participating in the 4-H Leadership program for several years.
