Footloose opens Saturday at the Star By Kyle Hadley This February will bring a bit of 80s nostalgia to the stage of The Star Theater in Russell Springs, Ky. as one of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory now bursts onto the live stage. This Broadway show, which was a hit on national tour, is based on the 1984 film that made a star out of Kevin Bacon. The film also starred John Lithgow and Diane Weist as the towns evangelical minister and his wife, who clash heads on with the young outsider. It marked the film debuts of Chris Penn and Sarah Jessica Parker. Columbian killed in accident on 1-65 near Bowling Green A former Columbian, Darrell Burton, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene following a collision on 1-65 in Warren County, Thursday evening, February 14, 2008, after the car which he was operating was hit by a semi-trailer truck which pushed the Burton vehicle into the median where it overturned and subsequently, the semi overturned on top of the Burton vehicle. According to Kentucky State Police Post 3, in Bowling Green, KY, Phillip Foster was north bound, in a semi-trailer truck in the middle lane of I-65. Darrell Burton was traveling beside Mr. Foster's vehicle in the right lane. Mr. Foster failed to see Mr. Burton's vehicle in the right lane and attempted to merge in to the right lane. Three county roads now re-opened Bridge approaches at three points on Sulphur Creek rebuilt yesterday to allow passage, but repaving will have to wait until Spring. By Ed Waggener Judge Ann Melton said this morning that all three roads closed because of bridge approach washouts had been re-opened as of yesterday, Thursday, February 14, 2008. The Great Backyard Bird Count starts today and continues through Monday, February 18, 2008. The event is sponsored by the National Audubon Society and Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Last year, no Ospreys were reported from Adair County. At least one regularly fishes at Arnold's Landing. And, no Eagles were reported in the Great Backyard Bird Count.
