Great American Backyard Bird Count starts today Adair Countians urged to join the Count starting today, February 15-18 With photos Click Here For ColumbiaMagazine.com's Birds of Kentucky directory The photos by Pen, Tony Harvey, and Betty Sue Jasper and others can be a great help to identification. The Great Backyard Bird Count starts today and continues through Monday, February 18, 2008. The event is sponsored by the National Audubon Society and Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Last year, no Ospreys were reported from Adair County. At least one regularly fishes at Arnold's Landing. And, no Eagles were reported in the Great Backyard Bird Count. Turkeys were far under reported. By way of suggestion, birders in the Great Adair County Disaspora are encouraged to be home in Adair County to aid the local Backyard Bird Count. While we at ColumbiaMagazine.com wish the reports could be "Adair County," there's no option for that. For that reason, we hope that all Adair County Counts go in as "Columbia, KY," to improve our standings. In the past few years, the reports from Adair County have increased dramatically.
