KY Afield Outdoors: Catching up with pro angler Jimmy Houston

By Kevin Kelly

Frankfort, KY - The growth of outdoor television and an expanding library of videos available online means anglers no longer have to wait until weekend mornings to get their fill of fishing shows.

Viewers would tune in each week to ESPN, TBS and The Nashville Network to watch the likes of Jimmy Houston, Bill Dance, Roland Martin, Hank Parker, Jerry McKinnis and others catch big fish, and lots of them. As entertaining as it was, there was educational value. The shows introduced generations of anglers to new equipment and new lures, but also taught them new ways to fish.

Frankfort, KY - On Feb. 29, Kentucky initiated a statewide rollout of a new computerized benefits system. The system, known as benefind, is the fifth and final release phase of the kynect system, which was designed and developed by the prior administration. JIM shares research on Billy Joe Fudge's royal lineage

In response to Mr. Fudge. See: KY Color: Possible line of royalty awaiting further research

By JIM

Billy Joe's royal revelation just about knocked me backsides over butter churn, but (somewhat) at his behest, I regathered my scattered equilibrium and commenced poking around. Much to my dismay, I discovered -- alas! -- his distant kinswoman Queen Elizabeth Furkin Janes, no doubt a fine person and upstanding citizen in her own right, was an inadvertent pretender to the throne, a poser by the odd happenstance of her parents' choice of name.

AG sues Volkswagen for deceptive consumer practices

Automaker fraudulently promoted, sold diesel vehicles with rigged emissions software

By Terry Sebastian and Crystal Staley

Frankfort, KY - Attorney General Andy Beshear today announced his office has filed a lawsuit against automaker Volkswagen and its connected brands Audi and Porsche for intentionally deceiving Kentucky consumers.

Beshear's lawsuit claims Volkswagen and its brands willfully violated Kentucky's Consumer Protection Act when it fraudulently promoted its Turbocharged Direct Injection (TDI(R)) diesel-engine automobiles as having "clean diesel" technology.

Volkswagen has admitted that this claim was "dishonest" because the automobiles contained rigged software that cheated emissions tests.

Sky watch: sunset and huge moon and a mystery

George Rice wrote last night, March 23, 2016:
"As I was returning from Charity Baptist Church I became quite obsessed with that monster moon. Absolutely beautiful. Being after dark, I kept taking picture after picture of that moon. I didn’t have the filter and tripod that I needed but I did capture this scene of the moon as seen through the tree top (poor picture of the moon) but old glory showed up quiet well. Now I need readers to identify the moving light at the top of the picture. I did not see this until I brought the picture up on my computer. Could it be a comet? It also showed up on other pictures that I took."
Ok, CM readers and scientists, what is that moving object in the photo? - LW

KY Color: Possible line of royalty awaiting further research

By Billy Joe Fudge

Well I just don't know how to approach this subject without sounding as if I'm bragging but there is Royalty in my family. Although I don't necessarily feel like a descendant of Royalty, I must submit myself to that reality.

My Great Grandfather was William Tyler Furkin. His sister pictured with him in the accompanying photo is my Great Great Aunt Queen. Of course, in the tradition of my upbringing in the glorious 50's and the turbulent 60's I was instructed to address my elder kinfolk by their proper title. In this case, it was Pa Bill and Aunt Queen.

I always assumed that Queen was Aunt Queen's nickname. Locals in her age category would often address her as "Queenie" which reinforced my "nickname" assumption. However, as with many if not most assumptions, I was in error.
