Chanel Roberts named Second Team NAIA All-American

By David Gerhart

Chanel Roberts of the Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team earned NAIA Second Team All-American honors, the national office announced on Thursday.

After being a Third Team All-American selection last season, Roberts earns All-American status for the second-straight season.

The junior from Radcliff, Ky., led the Blue Raiders this season with 13.8 points per game and 5.8 rebounds a game.

During her junior season, Roberts eclipsed the 1,000 career point mark and after scoring 470 points this season she moved all the way up to fifth on the all-time scoring list in program history. Roberts has 1,317 points over her first three seasons in a Lindsey Wilson uniform.

Roberts had a field goal percentage of 53.4 percent, which ranked seventh in the NAIA, and her 470 points ranked 28th in the nation.

The Blue Raiders finished the season with a record 28-7 and the 28 wins set a new program record. The Blue Raiders also made their first appearance in the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championships.
