Wanda Kerns: Vandals were likely children or very low life adults

Wanda Kerns
Finally something I can agree on. I don't think it was just NO signs painted on. I think more then likely it was unsupervised children or teens. Or a very low life adult. I'll be so glad when the voting is over one way or another. I have never seen such childish remarks in all my life. Also to post a comment as anonymous is only a coward's way out I agree with you (anonymous. CM) on the No vote, but by not using your real name you are in the same category as the ones destroying signs because you are doing it sneaky, same as they did. Sharon and I have not agreed on several issues here, but I knew who it was. She didn't sneak and use another name same as I didn't. She stands for what she believes in, same as I stand for what I believe in. And we do it in our name. - Wanda Kerns

Shannon Sexton: Neither side has escaped vandalism, blame

Shannnon writes:
Dear Anonymous,
  • Both sides have been dealing with sign vandals for weeks.
  • Both sides have condemned such actions by anyone.
  • Both sides contain "Christian" people.
  • The YES side has previously been accused of throwing their own signs in the dumpster for attention.
  • The NO side has this morning been accused of painting their own signs for attention.
  • It's probably some mischievous youngsters.
If any property owner has a camera that may have captured footage of sign vandalism, please report it to law enforcement.

Anonymous letter blames Wet forces for vandalism

Received at 9:43amCT.

Anonymous writes:
It's a sad shame that someone would take the time to go around onto other people's property and paint on these vote no signs. If I am not mistaken that is trespassing. Nothing will be done about this because I believe the one in charge will see that nobody is charged with vandalism(action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to public or private property) because they want the county to become wet but I can guarantee that if someone went around painting no on all the yes signs they would be punished. Well guess what the no voters paid for their signs just like the yes voters. We all have our rights and I can promise that if I catch someone on my property then I will have them arrested. Are they so worried that the Christian people are going to stand on their beliefs and keep the county from becoming wet that they think going around being childish is going to help? The only progress this is causing in Adair county is conflict. I am not going to go around begging people to vote no because that is their own decision but it's sad that its all come down to this. - Anonymous

House passes HB 290 to permit no-excuse absentee voting

From Secretary of State's Communication Office

"Today, we made history in Kentucky with the launch of online voter registration, and passing House Bill 290 is the next step," said Grimes. "We've made it easy to register to vote online. Now, it's time to make it more convenient to vote. I call on the Senate to give House Bill 290 full consideration - and to listen to the many Kentuckians who are calling for its passage."

The legislation would allow voters to vote early a minimum of 12 days before Election Day and at least two Saturdays in all 120 counties. The majority of counties currently offer absentee voting on Saturday. The legislation would not affect procedures for mail-in absentee voting.

Online voter registration launches in Kentucky

While Dec 31 was the deadline for already registered voters to change party affiliation before the primary, April 18th, 2016 is the last day for new voter registration and address changes before the May 17, 2016 Kentucky primary election.

By Bradford Queen

Frankfort, KY - Kentuckians are now able to register to vote using the Commonwealth's online voter registration portal at GoVoteKY.com, Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes announced yesterday. Grimes also announced a key partnership between her office and Microsoft, which will assist in registering voters across the Commonwealth. A statewide GoVoteKY.com Tour will begin this week to educate and register voters.

The portal, GoVoteKY.com, can be accessed via computer or smartphone. To register, a person must enter their name, Social Security number and birth date. As required by law, users must also provide their signature, digitally or via their driver's license. The registrant's information is sent to their county clerk's office, which will process and approve each update or new registration and then send confirmation to the voter.

Shannon Sexton shares Sen. Girdler's letter 22 Mar 2016 issue

Shannon writes:
Shannon Sexton
Personal Commentary

Commonwealth of Kentucky State Senator Chris Girdler was kind enough to email his thoughts on our upcoming wet/dry election. I wanted to share his comment with everyone.
"I commend Progress Adair County for their efforts to bring about change for their community. I'm reminded of the quote from President John F. Kennedy, 'Change is the law of life. And those who look only at the past or present are certain to miss the future.' While this a decision for the people of Adair County to make, I can say without a moment's hesitation that, if approved and as evidenced by other communities, over time it will help enhance economic development efforts, improve tourism, create jobs, increase tax revenue as well as boost the overall economy and opportunities of the region" - KY STATE SENATOR CHRIS GIRDLER, (R) District 15 - Boyle Lincoln Pulaski.
Thanks, - Shannon Sexton - PAC Chair

Mary Norris. Thanks so much for the news. Hadn't heard of this development. Is it a chain? There are the restaurants in Campbellsville on Main Street and on KY 210 who serve alcoholic beverages, but no bars in that community. We'd love to hear more about this new business you suggest. Opinion: Robert Cumming takes issue with NYT article

Robert Cumming writes:
This NY Times article flies in the face of the current effort President Obama is seeking to leave increased gun control part of his legacy. I suspect the Obama administration has put the word out to US Attorneys in all states to step up firearm case convictions by making federal cases out of firearm crimes that were previously prosecuted in state courts. I've noticed a distinct rise in these firearm cases by the US Attorney office in Ky as evidenced by these cases posted in CM. --Robert Cumming

KY F&W looking for a few good bass- to propagate

From Kentucky Fish & Wildlife

FRANKFORT, KY - The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources is looking for a few good bass.

Not just any largemouth bass, however. The hunt is on for the wall-hanging, line-busting fish that anglers in the local tackle shop will talk about for years.

The reason is simple: Big bass produce big bass. Kentucky Fish and Wildlife wants anglers to donate their live trophy bass so the department's hatcheries can use them to produce new generations of oversized fish. In return, anglers will receive a replica mount of their bass.

BJ Fudge sends explanation of rainbow touching ground

In answer to a question, Billy Joe Fudge writes:
Touching the ground in front of you means that the raindrops doing their work were very close to you. These kind of "up close and personal" rainbows always look lighter beneath the bow itself, also. I think it is because of reflection of light from the raindrops. Since the angle is not sufficient to cause the prism effect, there is still refection or mirror effect if you will. - BJF
