Chicken Issue: Writer doesn't, will never eat chicken again Personal Commentary Everytime I get behind one of those trucks hauling those chickens to Albany to be killed, I cannot stop crying. Too many of those poor birds are dead before they ever reach the plant. They are stuffed in cages like sardines in a can. Is all that really necessary? - PAULA CURRY PYLES By Paula Curry Pyles Personal commentary I know there is money to be made in raising chickens, and I understand that is why God put them here, BUT the way these animals are raised is NOT RIGHT. I have seen videos and hear horror stories about all the chemicals that these animals are given to make them grow fast so they can be killed for food. Robyn Curry: An idea for helping match up kids with lost glasses She maintains it is worth an extra effort. She still hopes to find the little girl who lost glasses at the Roadside Park, 2310 Highway 55 Road South, Columbia, KY LITTLE GIRL'S LOST GLASSES DETAILS Robyn Curry I still have the prescription glasses I found over the weekend and sadly haven't been contacted by the owner. I called the Adair County Board of Education to see if they could help with locating the little girl that lost these glasses. A nice lady informed me they would do what they could. I was really pretty surprised when she went on to say they had several pairs of lost prescription glasses in a drawer that nobody had ever claimed. I guess I just wanted to throw this idea out there to parents and teachers. If a child has lost their glasses it would certainly be worth a try to post a notice on Columbia Magazine, facebook or make a few phone calls. A child that can't see well and doesn't have glasses is at a real disadvantage. The glasses that I found seem to be newer and for a child with very poor eyesight and I would love to get them back to the rightful owner. 270-634-7611 --Robyn Curry Comments re article 77227 CM Classified Little Girls Pair of Prescription Glasses 2015-08-24 10:50:31 | Comments | Printable version

Click on headline for complete story, details of cases. By Victoria Stephens Aug. 20, 2015 Louisville, Kentucky USA - The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights Board of Commissioners at its regular meeting on August 20 at the Louisville, Ky., headquarters, ruled upon discrimination complaints for the people of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The commission ruled to accept five conciliation agreements and accept 14 case withdrawals that were resolved with private settlements after respondents were made aware complaints had been filed with the commission. The board accepted 13 case withdrawals giving complainants the right to file private suits and ruled to dismiss 40 complaints with findings of no probable cause to evidence discrimination may have occurred. The commission resolved eight cases through mediation. The mediation closures resulted in a total of $462,140 for complainants, and non-monetary settlements, which included a letter of apology and promise not to discriminate; removal of write-ups and a first shift job; transfer to new school with bus transportation, and sensitivity training for bus drivers, teachers and administrators. Mediations are legally private sessions held face-to-face between complainants and respondents and led by a commission attorney. Conciliation agreements are similar to settlements and are negotiated by commission officials during the course of investigation of charges of alleged discrimination. The following are conciliations agreements ruled upon and accepted during the August meeting: Article continues... click title or click here to read whole article. 2015-08-24 09:11:49 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Kentucky
