CU hosts attendees from 17 states at Ignite America "The spiritual significance of the conference being at Campbellsville University is incredible. "It was a great representation of what the Kingdom of Heaven will be like." - WES CARTER Click on headline for story with photo(s) By Jordan Antle News from Campbellsville University Campbellsville, KY - Campbellsville University welcomed around 400 people on campus for Ignite America, a conference that calls those in attendance to ignite college campuses for Christ. Attendees from 17 states across the nation engaged in worship, large sessions and prayer meetings in Ransdell Chapel. Ignite America's message is that Jesus Christ is the foundation, inspiration, hope and joy of life. Ignite places an emphasis that Christ is worshiped at Ignite in an environment that welcomes freedom of expression honoring the Holy Trinity while connecting those in attendance under the Lord's love. Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of Campbellsville University, welcomed the conference to CU's campus. "Campbellsville is excited to see so many people from across the nation gathered together on our campus to engage in worship for Christ," Carter said. Over the four-day conference, several sessions were held on the campus of Campbellsville University including topics such as revival onhigh school campuses, the Father's blessing, spiritual revolutionaries, releasing the sound for transformation and more. Wes Carter, assistant director of church outreach at Campbellsville University, said the opportunity for Ignite America arose from a connection with General Howard and Aprile Hunt. "They have been connected with the Ignite America Movement in years past at its host site in Shreveport, La. This year due to complications in logistics the site in Louisiana was not open for the conference. After much prayer and divine connections Campbellsville University was asked to be the host site," Wes Carter said. The attendees of Ignite America came from many different backgrounds, not only in terms of age and geographical location but also indenominational backgrounds as well. "The spiritual significance of the conference being at Campbellsville University is incredible," Wes Carter said. "It was a great representation of what the Kingdom of Heaven will be like." Ignite America hopes to start a revival in the hearts of young people to awaken a generation of servant leaders for Christ. Ignite is on the pursuit to see the transformation of college campuses, as well as cities, in America become transformed by the love of Jesus. "The key to changing the generations is by reaching our high school and college students. Spiritual awakening is what we all want and it is near," Wes Carter said. With the success of Ignite America on campus, Campbellsville University has plans to continue to hold future conferences on campus. "There are certainly plans for conferences like Ignite and many others to take place on our campus in the future. We want Campbellsville University to be the epicenter of Spiritual Awakening for our nation," Wes Carter said. Campbellsville University is a widely acclaimed Kentucky-based Christian university with more than 3,500 students offering 63 undergraduate options, 17 master's degrees, five postgraduate areas and eight pre-professional programs.
