Wants story on Cameron Campbell's academic achievement

Comments re article 63950 CUs December commencements to feature 196 graduates

Janet Wilkerson writes:
An update to this story naming the Columbia/Adair County graduates would be fitting. A special congratulations to Valedictorian Cameron Campbell with a 4.0 in his chemistry major is due. Linda Waggener has written before about one of Cameron's previous accomplishments. - Janet Wilkerson
Thanks, Janet Wilkerson We're awaiting a follow up from Campbellsville University commencement. Thanks for pointing out the chemistry GPA. And that's just a small part of what he's achieved so far. We find it great that Cameron is getting rock star recognition, which he greatly deserves.

Carol Perkins: Working with Santa Claus

'In Santa's world, the homes are warm and cozy with nothing but the flicker of candle light glowing in the windows. I might prefer electric candles, but the warmth and the flickering I would embrace. In reality, the season isn't a scene straight out of "The Night Before Christmas." It either brings out the best in people or the worst.' - CAROL PERKINS
The next earlier Carol Perkins column: Carol Perkins: O Christmas tree, you'll be the death of me

By Carol Perkins

Living at the North Pole and working in Santa's workshop appealed to me as a child. As a matter of fact, it appeals to me now. I like what I've seen on the pages of Christmas storybooks and in movies such as "White Christmas." The snow covered town where the moon is so bright there is no need for street lights, and the shuffling of elves back and forth from one shop to the other in a rush to complete orders-perfect. I know how to rush so I would fit right in this town.

Supports those who protect; says ballplayers make too much

Mary Ann Brown writes:
Thank Goodness somebody else realizes that the ball players/handlers are not the ones that should row in the money but the people that make the greatest impact on teaching our young/protecting our counties/states/country are the ones that should have the big money. I know this neck of woods thrives on ball playing but the people that risk their life each time they go to a domestic situation/robbery/hostage situations, these people have no idea that they will ever return back home. Our young need guidance and they need it bad....I could not do either job for I lack the patience and the knowledge but I do want to thank those that can and do their jobs day in and day out...I'm referring to soldiers too. People in the public eye have to stand on the fence/jump over the fence and straddle the fence just to keep peace but at what cost? Just an ole lady giving her opinion! Ballplayers in all ball sports make way too money...--Mary Ann Brown

Thank you for offering to include a few words from me in ColumbiaMagazine about my Dad. What a privilege!

The first year anniversary of my Dad's passing was a time for grieving, a normal process for all who knew him. Now, in this second anniversary year of his passing, along with my time of convalescence due to a fall and broken leg, I have had much time to pause and reflect with memories of my Dad, his life and his writings; however, that process didn't end there.

Deconstructing Lincoln

It is probably safe to say there have been as many books written about Abraham Lincoln as have been written about any figure in history. He has been studied and parsed and pronounced upon until there seems to be no room for more. His life and career have been chipped and chopped and ground fine in the mills of history.
