Russell Co. claims Clifton Aaron; he will be missed, remembered Mary writes: Sorry to tell you that Russell County claims Clifton as its own. He lived here during his early years, probably his birthplace. He was as popular here as he was in Taylor county. His family lived at the intersection of Hwy 55 and 379 in the southern part of the county, if I recall correctly his father may have had a general store on the corner of the intersection. His wife, Peggy is from the same area. Clifton was always a generous and kind individual, as was his family. CU becomes 4th school offering dual credit courses at ACHS Update August 29, 2013: There are actually 6 schools now offering dual credit. Ann Young, Guidance Counselor notes that, in addition to the four listed in the CU article, below, ACHS offers dual credit courses from Murray State University (Murray, KY); and Kentucky State University (Frankfort, KY). Campbellsville University joins Lindsey Wilson College, Western Kentucky University, and Somerset Community College making college level courses, with college hours and high school credits available at the same time. Mr. Clifton G. Aaron, 86, Taylor Co., KY (d. Aug. 28, 2013) He was a favorite son of Adair, Russell and Taylor Counties. He was born in Adair County, much of his early life was in Russell County, and he became a major figure in Taylor County life and was a leading businessman there. He had owned two auto parts stores, one of which was the NAPA store in Campbellsville, KY, which he sold to Steve McKinney. At the tiime of his death he continued to operate "Big Chief's" a gunstore and lunch counter. After the death of Better Burgers was closed in Columbia, KY, he bought the recipe and continued them on the menu at Big Chief's. A friend, Larry Smith, called him "Unique." Alein T. Wade, Adair County, KY (1924-2013) She was a member of a distinguished Adair County, KY family. She was a native of Adair County, where her final earthly resting place will be.Alein was a special lady. Widowed with two young children at the age of 32, she went back to school at Western Kentucky University to become a teacher. She started out in a one room school in Adair County and went on to become the principal of Crum's Lane Elementary in Jefferson County. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Sorority, Jefferson Co. Association of Elementary School Principals, Jefferson County Association of School Administrators, Kentucky Education Association, Adair County Retired Teachers Association and Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, a member of the Columbia Christian Church. The Taurus was traveling east on Danville Hwy and was operated by 60-year-old James Linton.
