Comment: Puppy left in trash can at Columbia Walmart Good use of ACSO resources, writer says, noting, ' I would imagine that an individual who would do a crime such as this has the potential to do other serious crimes.' Bob Barnes writes: How disgusting it was to read of the puppy left to die in a trash can. I can only hope that Sheriff Harrison Moss and/or his deputies will use the surveillance cameras that are on the parking lot lamp post and the Walmart structure itself. Surely there will be arguments from some that our law enforcement have better things to do with their time. However, I would imagine that an individual who would do a crime such as this has the potential to do other serious crimes. --Bob BarnesPuppy found in trash can dies after rescue, trip to veterinarian 2013-06-27 20:36:42 | Comments | Printable version

Mike Watson - America's Game, Baseball - We do love our sports teams! I grew up listening to the Cincinnati Reds on the radio and still prefer to listen than to watch on television. A live game is best, of course, but my delicate constitution is such that heat, direct rays from the sun and tight-fitting seats just do not suit me. We Adair Countians have had a penchant for baseball since it made a hit here in the 1890s. Every year the communities around the county would field a team and play each other and teams from surrounding counties. This enthusiasm did not wane until the World War II era, actually the 1950s. Our father was an avid player at one time and never really lost his excitement for the game. - MIKE WATSON Click on headline for complete story By Mike Watson Adair County Historian The following are a few notes from the pages of The Adair County News, 1902: Ladies got in free The Greensburg baseball team will match the Columbia nine at Page's Park, in this city, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
