Puppy found in trash can dies after rescue, trip to veterinarian By Peg Schaeffer A puppy found in a trash can yesterday, Wednesday, June 26, 2013, outside Columbia Walmart was rescued and taken to the office of local veterinarian Dr. Janice Coffey, DVM, but the rescue was too late and the puppy died. The temperature outside was 90 degrees on the day of the incident, and much hotter inside the trash can. Adair County Sheriff Harrison Moss is investigating the incident as a possible cruelty to animals crime - a crime. Anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity related to the incident is asked to contact the Adair County Sheriff's Office. - Peg Schaeffer, 270-378-4521 or 270-634-4675 This story was posted on 2013-06-27 03:36:29
