Worked at movie ticket machine for many years

It is sad to see the theater sitting empty; Saturday nights in downtown Columbia have changed so much. - JIM HUDSON

Jim Hudson writes:
I am very familiar with this item that is pictured. I used this movie ticket machine during the four or five years that I worked for Charles Marshall at the Columbian Theater in the early to mid 1970\'s. I have many good memories of those years working for the Marshalls. My brother, Gary and I sold concessions, sold tickets, and cleaned up after the movies were over. Not always fun, but the memories are still good ones! It is sad to see the theater sitting empty; Saturday nights in downtown Columbia have changed so much. --Jim Hudson

Quintet at Lindsey Wilson program was perfection

By Martha Berry

Again, LWC's music department has outdone itself. The quintet on Sunday afternoon was perfection. Dr. Reynolds piano playing was unbelievable, the strings were outstanding and the flute was not to be believed. We are so fortunate to have that much talent right in our own backyard. We are probably so close that we don't realize how extremely fortunate we are. We should all take advantage of the opportunities we have to hear what the college music department can do. - Martha Berry

Cobb-Vantress/Tyson: Is CACEDA eating our young?

Looking before we leap Question for CACEDA (Columbia/Adair County Economic Development Authority:

What part of agriculture will be served by another hungry appetite for corn? Is Adair County already a net importer of corn? Don't Adair County's established but struggling dairy farmers have to compete with ethanol corn consumption already? When dairy farmers say their biggest problem is the high cost of feed, how are these agricultural friends and neighbors helped by yet another competitor for scarce feed resources.

Cobb-Vantress may be good for Adair County. On balance it may not be.

Just saying. Just asking. Confused by the Clandestine activities, the secrecy. - EW
