She was a native of Cumberland County, KY and a resident of Martinsville, IN at the time of her death. She was the matriarch of a large, respected family. She leaves 36 direct living descendants.

Alma McCool age 85 of Martinsville, Indiana formerly of Burkesville, KY passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Grandview Manor Nursing Home in Martinsville, IN.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 1pmCT/2pmET, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Burkesville, KY with Bro. Gary Cash officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery Visitation is 5pm-9pmCT/6pm-10pmET, Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home in Burkesville.

Alma McCool was born on Tuesday, May 24, 1927 in Cumberland County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Blaine and Hettie Murphy Spears. She died Sunday, April 14, 2013, in Martinsville, Morgan County, IN at the age of 85 years, 10 months, and 21 days.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jake McCool, one daughter, Lucille Morrison, her brothers and sisters, Andrew Spears, Osby Spears, Charlie Spears, Kelsie Spears, Perry Spears, Mary Dulworth, Mattie Pruitt, Edna Reynolds, Nina King, and Dora Spears.

Survivors include the following:
  • Three daughters: Bonnie Reynolds of Indianapolis, IN, Betty Parsley of Paragon, IN, and Patricia Ball of Quincy, IN

  • One son: Larry McCool of Indianapolis, IN

  • Thirteen grandchildren

  • Nineteen great grandchildren

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, in charge of funeral arrangements.
