Letter: Concerned about the city pool may not open this year Marina Coffey writes: I am very concerned that the city pool may not open this year. I am a member of the water aerobics class for seniors there. Why can't the leak be repaired, or a new pool be built. This Town has nothing for the kids to do in the summer but play baseball, and money is spent there. Where does the city tax fund go? I say a vote be taken to repair or close by the taxpayers. - Marina Whelan CoffeyComments re article 56807 Columbia City Council Meeting report January 7 2013 meeting 2013-01-08 09:27:55 | Comments | Printable version
Columbia City Council Meeting report, January 7, 2013 meeting In the Monday, January 7, 2013 City Council meeting
Click on headline for story as posted, photo(s) as posted By Ed Waggener Superintendent Ron Cook of the Columbia Gas Department outlined major plans to extend the City of Columbia's natural gas system further into the county, with the next project actually extending into the edge of Green County. The City will be building, using in-house resources, a line to the Junior Brown chicken barns in Green County, between Kemp in Adair County and Summershade in Green. Chicken growing operations are a big market for natural gas. "They have to keep chickens warm," Councillor Robert Flowers, said. The new line will require 19,000 feet of line and will extend from KY 61, Greensburg Road, to just over the Green County line. Mr. Cook said that all private easements have been verbally agreed to. He has already obtained permission from the Green County Fiscal court to enter the sovereign territory of that jurisdiction.
