Boys HS Basketball: ACHS Indians 68. Caverna 49

News of Adair County High School Athletics

The Adair County Indians improved to 10-5 on the season and captured their fourth straight win with a 68-49 road victory at Caverna High School in Horse Cave, KY. The loss dropped the Colonels to 11-5 on the season.

The Indians led 16-6 after the first period. Caverna went on a 14-4 run to tie the score 20-20, but a 12-2 run by the Tribe made the score 32-22 at halftime. Caverna scored the first five points of the second half to make the score 40-35 but the Indians stretched their lead to 48-39 at the end of the period. Adair out scored Caverna 20-10 in the final period to make the final 68-49.

Matt Fudge connected on seven of eight field goal tries including all three treys to lead Adair with 19 points. Chance Melton scored ten points and pulled down nine rebounds. Rounding out the scoring were Ty Bennett 8, Marshall Shelley 7, Jake Hixson 6, Zach Hutchison 6, Jayden Willis 4, Tanner Pooler 3, Kel Stotts 2, Colton Back 2, and Jacob Pooler 1. Also seeing action were Gabriel Alfaro, Trevor Willis, Kyle Burton, Aaran Taylor, and Trent Jones.

The Indians host Larue County, Tuesday, January 8, 2012, with a JV game at 5:30pmCT, Varsity at 7pmCT, at John Burr Memorial Gymnasium, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY.
