COLUMBIA, KY - A 18-2 run to start the second half solidified a strong opening 20 minutes for the Lindsey Wilson College men's basketball team in a 100-69 rout of visiting Miami Hamilton (Ohio) on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Biggers Sports Center.

Five Blue Raiders (14-1) scored in double figures led by Simon Barres' career-high 18 points off the bench. Barres' production helped the Lindsey Wilson reserves to a 60-11 advantage over their counterparts. Tony Horne and Milton Watts scored 10 points each off the bench for the No. 8-ranked Blue Raiders. Kalen Kimberland added 14 points and Darren Ballou chipped in 10 from the starters.

COLUMBIA, KY - Four Blue Raiders reached double figures as the Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team used balanced scoring a pressure defense to take down Miami Hamilton 86-40 on Saturday, December 29, 2012, in Biggers Sports Center.

Jasmine Brimm led all scorers with 18 points, while Sarah Collins had 13 points and seven rebounds and Ashley Rainey added 12 points and seven boards. Sarah Gillis added 10.

Alice Courter, Russell Co., KY (1923-2012)

She was a native of Peoria, Ohio, and lived in Russell County, KY, at the time of her death. She will be returned to her Ohio home for services and interment. She was a grocery clerk at IGA and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Marysville, Ohio. She was the mother of Bonnie Rings of Russell Springs, and the matriarch of a highly regarded family with widespread family ties. She leaves 10 direct and three step living descendants.

Serviceman Levi Ramage gets hearty Adair Co., KY homecoming

Last evening, Aviation Structural Mechanic Airman Apprentice, Levi Ramage of the United States Navy was given a hearty welcome home by 2012 ACHS classmates and friends.

Those in attendance at the welcome at the home of Brenda and Gary Mann included Andrew Ferguson, Christian Talley, Eli Coomer, Luke Keen, Stephen Chafin, Levi Ramage, Logan Barnes, Dylan Claiborne, Jack Hobbs, Kyle Mann, Eddie Franklin, Jr., Andrew Wooley and Allison Feese.

Levi is spending a two week military break in Columbia enjoying time with family and friends before departing January 3, 2013, for the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Washington State. Levi is the son of proud parents Marlin and Janice Ramage.

Judy Carol Johnson, Taylor Co., KY native (1956-2012)

She was a native of Taylor County, KY, and a resident of Richmond, KY, at the time of her death. She was a member of a large, respected family with deep roots in Taylor, Adair, and Green Counties of South Central Kentucky. She professed her hope in Christ at an early age and joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church

Grace Johnson, 86, Jabez, KY (1926-2012)

She was the matriarch of a respected Jabez community family. She is survived by her husband, Robert Johnson. She leaves 16 direct living descendants. She was a homemaker and a member of the Christian Home Church.

KSP increasing patrols during New Years Eve Holiday

Last year, six people were killed on Kentucky Highways during New Year's Weekend. State Police cruisers will be out in force. KSP will utilize safety checkpoints, roving patrols, and targeted enforcement to remove drunk drivers from the highways.

The Adair County Boys will play the Nelson County Cardnials in the final game of the Nelson County Holiday Classic tonight, Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Nelson County High School, 1070 Bloomfield Road, Bardstown, KY. The JV game gets underway at 5pmCT/6pmET, with the Varsity game to follow at 6:45pmCT/7:45pmET.

The Indians split their opening two games falling to Kentucky Country Day 61-47 and defeating Whitley County 58-50.
