Indians split with KY Country Day and Whitley County Adair County, with several players under the weather, loses to Kentucky Country Day 61-47, but bounces back with return of Chance Melton to beat Whitley County 58-50 Special to ColumbiaMagazine.com The Adair County Boys will play the Nelson County Cardnials in the final game of the Nelson County Holiday Classic tonight, Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Nelson County High School, 1070 Bloomfield Road, Bardstown, KY. The JV game gets underway at 5pmCT/6pmET, with the Varsity game to follow at 6:45pmCT/7:45pmET. The Indians split their opening two games falling to Kentucky Country Day 61-47 and defeating Whitley County 58-50. The Indians had several players under the weather and it showed in their sluggish performance against KCD. KCD jumped out to a 16-7 first quarter lead before the Indiands tied the game 26-26 late in the second period. A 5-0 KCD run put the foes from Louisville ahead to stay. Adair trailed 45-36 after three periods and KCD made some late free throws to pull away 61-47. Kel Stotts led the Indians with 19 points. Rounding out the scoring were Zach Hutchison 8, Jayden Willis 4, Matt Fudge 4, Colton Back 4, Marshall Shelley 4, Ty Bennett 2, Jake Hixson 2. Shelley led the Indians with six rebounds. The Indians bounced back Friday night, December 28, 2012, with a 58-50 win over Whitley County. The Indians used a balanced attack in which nine of ten players that saw action scored. The Tribe led 16-12, 31-24, 40-30, and 58-50 at the end of the quarters. The Indians welcomed the return of Chance Melton who led the team with 13 points. Rounding out the scoring were Matt Fudge 11, Jayden Willis 9, Kel Stotts 9, Ty Bennett 6, Jake Hixson 3, Marshall Shelley 3, Tanner Pooler 2, Colton Back 2, and Zach Hutchison came off the bench but did not score.
