Smokie had a trusting heart and a way with people

Roger D Smith DMD writes:
To All Who Knew Smokie and Those Not Fortunate To Know Him--

He truly had a trusting heart and a way with people. I knew him as a true soul of Breeding, KY. Friendly in every way and a dog who truly loved that old truck of Dan's. When I was building my cabin he was a faithful observer and someone for me to have a one-sided conversation.

From all of us who have lost canine companions, Dan, we know the loss and we truly feel for you.

Billy Joe Fudge: Winter Creeper is silent killer of trees

By Billy Joe Fudge, Retired District Forester
Kentucky Division of Forestry

This tree destroyer from hell is more often referred to around these parts as Winter Creeper and should be listed as a leach rather than a plant. It is a silent killer of trees and particularly urban trees whose trunks are more exposed to sunlight which enhances Winter Creeper's ability to strangle and suffocate its victims.

If the trunk of your tree is leafy green right now then you most likely have Winter Creeper. Cut the vine down close to the ground and do not let it climb back up the tree. -Billy Joe Fudge
