A Prayer for Veterans By LWC Student Erika Finley of Hopkinsville, KY Delivered Nov. 12, 2012 at Lindsey Wilson College God, we come to you today so humbled and grateful for all that you have blessed us with. We are so very grateful for the courage, commitment and sacrifice of the men and women that have served our country, as well as the men and women that continue to do so today. Father, we are a country that was built upon principles that glorified you. You have blessed this country in ways that are so much bigger than what we are able to understand. You have provided us with a platform that, by the courage and sacrifice of our veterans, has allowed us the privilege of being called the greatest country on Earth. As one nation under God, I pray that we can continue to use that platform. I pray for the courageous hearts and safety of those that continue to fight for and defend our freedom today. God, because you have blessed us so much, we have the right to worship you and glorify you in any way that you call us to. I pray that we all remember that, and, most importantly, that we remember the sacrifice that you made for us by sending your son to die on the cross for us. God, I pray that you will remain at the center of this country's values and morals, and that you will continue to guide us to where you want us to go. I pray for the veterans in this room right now. Having a brother who serves in the United States Navy has given me firsthand knowledge of what these men and women have been through and done for us. God, I pray that you will have your hand over them and their families throughout all of the days to come. We are so grateful for the opportunities you have blessed us with, and I pray that we will continue to move forward as one nation under you, Lord. It's in your awesome, holy name we pray. Amen.
