Reckless driving complaint leads to confiscation of weapon, drugs, cash

ELIZABETHTOWN, KY -On Sunday, November 11, 2012 at approximately 3:22amET, Post 4 Dispatchers received a reckless driving complaint on a maroon passenger car near the 99 mile marker on Interstate 65. The vehicle was reported to have exited at the 94 mile marker in Elizabethtown. Tpr. Bryan Washer stopped a vehicle fitting the description on Ring Road in Elizabethtown for failure to give a turn signal when changing lanes.

Tpr. Washer's investigation into the stop led to the seizure of over $2500.00 cash, approximately 13 grams of suspected methamphetamines and a handgun. The driver, 29-year-old Joseph A. Mitchell of Cecilia, KY was charged with Failure to Give Signal, Operating on Suspended/Revoked Operator's License, Failure to Produce Insurance Card, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 3rd Offense, and Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 2nd or Subsequent Offense and lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.
