Columbia Walmart Supercenter Veterans Program fills VFW Hall Click on headline for complete story, photo(s), lists of attendees, donors, and participants By Ed Waggener Some 100 veterans and their guests attended the Columbia Walmart Supercenter Veterans Program at VFW Post 6097, 411 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY, on November 10, 2012. Lisa Fisher Clark of WAIN radio station and Joe Hare, VFW Post 6097, welcomed the guests. The program included the presentation of colors by the Adair County VFW Color Guard: Ronnie Holt, Johnie J. Biggs, Jim Smallwood, Buddy Green, Charles Green, and Orvis Grider. The same group retired the colors. The Lindsey Wilson Band, under the direction of Mr. Tim Allen, played the Star Spangled Banner. Other music included "Glory Hallelujah by Shawn Samuel and Sharon and Phyllis Payne; and "Amazing Grace My Chains Are Gone," sung by Shawn Samuell. Elbert Hadley, pastor of Hadley's Community Church, Fairplay, KY, gave the opening prayer. The highlight of the program was the introduction of the veterans, conducted by Walmart Columbia Supercenter Manager Carla Thomas and Assistant Manager Cameron Garmon. One by one the veterans were handed the mike and gave a brief self introduction. Those signing the guest register at the 2012 Veterans Day Breakfast were: Joe N. and Ada Troutman Coffey, Fred and Lucille Troutman, Ronnie D. Holt, Edgar Holmes, Ray Hawthorne, Ruel Milligan, Joe and Pat Hare, Jack Harbison, Earl M. Coffey, Rollen Coomer;The cooperative effort to hold the Walmart tribute to Adair County area veterans included the following donors: McDonald's, Meat Biscuits; Betty's OK Country Cooking, Gravy; Flavor Rich, Milk/OJ; Circle R Restaurant, Meat Biscuits; Dickey's BBQ, Meat Biscuits; Subway in Walmart, Coffee; Cafe on the Square, Cakes; Cash Express, Goody Bags; Bulletins, J & F Variety The VFW Ladies Auxiliary served food. Ellen Hingle provided coffee pots. and Terry Moore of Allen Moore & Sons, electrical contractors, provided and operated the sound system.
