Heavyweights Shine for No. 6 LW wrestlers at Michigan State News from Lindsey Wilson College EAST LANSING, MI - Two Lindsey Wilson College wrestlers placed at the Michigan State Open on Sunday, November 11, 2012 and they both came from the heavyweight ranks. Teddy Furnish took sixth place in the open division and Jonathan Hupp collected a fourth-place finish in the freshman/sophomore division. Both wrestlers won three matches on the day before opting out of their final matches with a pair of injury defaults. Furnish earned his spot in the fifth-place match with a 3-2 decision against Andrew Tumlin of Findlay University in the double-elimination event. Hupp posted a 9-0 win in the wrestlebacks against Clint Endicott of Indiana Tech before his next opponent took an injury default, setting up Hupp for fourth place. Funish started his day off right, topping Purdue's Drake Stein 8-3 in the first round and then bouncing back after a loss to beat Michigan's Jordan Smith 6-3 in wrestlebacks. Wismit Moinius had a strong showing as well, narrowly missing out on a place with a 3-2 record. Moinius beat Duke's Tanner Hough 3-1 in overtime, leading the way to a 6-0 win over Notre Dame College's Austin Sanders before advancing to the next round by injury default. Moinius lost his final match 4-1 to Brandon Wright of Notre Dame. Josh Johnson also won his first match, beating Michigan State's Joseph Johnson 5-1, before taking a 3-0 loss in the next round to Michigan's Angelo Latora. Other first-round winners included Jameel Bryant, taking down Edinburg's Vic Avery 5-4 before taking two straight losses.
