Remembering David Lester Pike: Knew at Mt. Carmel School

About: Obituary:David Lester Pike,78, Columbia KY

To Family Members of David Lester Pike, via CM,

I knew David from years ago when I went to Mt. Carmel School with cousin Richard Corbin when I was visiting him.

In the years since I would see him at the Taylor County Stockyards and through the years John David continued to visit. I didn't know until now that my friend Dr. Kevin Richerson was David's son-law.

My thoughts are with the family.

Amy Mitchum picture of international truck brings memories

About: Restored James Wilkinson Crystal Ice truck

Hi, Ed,

I knew Mr. Wilkinson's truck the second I saw it on your site this morning, even before reading the caption. As small children, my brother and I spent many summer days over at Mr Wilkinson's Ice House, helping him unload those huge blocks of ice off of that truck. At least we thought we were helping.

One Columbia icon saved spurs interest in another

Sent as invitation for suggestions

A reader asks: "With the opening of the Circle R imminent, talk of restoring the courthouse and what has been done behind Farm Bureau, I begin to wonder what is to happen to the Columbian Theatre? Columbians have shown great interest in restoring and maintaining various icons in our community. It would be sad to think that our theatre wouldn't be saved. I had seen a sign up that said 'maybe' for a while but that is gone now. Are there any plans that have been made public for this great icon in our town?"
