David McLean honored at retirement dinner

2009-02-10 - City Hall, Columbia - Photo by Linda Waggener.
DAVID McLEAN WAS HONORED with a retirement dinner Tuesday evening by the City of Columbia where he has worked for the past 24 years. He received a watch and a plaque and his boss, Kenneth Dulin, along with Columbia Mayor Pat Bell, both said he had done a fine job. Dulin told him that he would certainly be missed. Co-worker O.D. Frasier got big laughs when he told McLean that he was sure glad to see him retire because it would allow him to drive the truck all the time now. In the photo above McLean and his family started the buffet line. From left are son, Adam, 16; daughter Brianna Elizabeth who will be 8 in two days; his wife Georgia and McLean. In back are Police Chief Mark Harris, Frasier and Dulin. Remembering when he started, he as worked under six different mayors, Murphy, Flowers, Marshall, Hoots, Hardwick and now Bell.

Developing story: Still little word on major KSP movement

KSP will say only that officers are responding to a incident in Marion County

A number of persons have inquired about the waves of Kentucky State Police cruisers leaving Columbia going north on KY 55 this afternoon, Tuesday, February 10, 2009.

The Kentucky State Police Dispatcher at Post 15, Columbia, KY, said that the only information which could be given out was that officers were responding to an incident in Marion County.

Because of the secrecy surrounding the operation and the noticeably aggressive movement of the KSP cruisers through the City of Columbia, there has been speculation that the situation is "big."

The latest information, not from law enforcement sources. is that the focus of attention now is in an area north of the Taylor County community of Saloma.

More detailed information about the nature of the incident may be available soon.

Letter: Wants court to support ACHS band

About: Agenda Adair Co Fiscal Court February 10, 2009

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

Much attention has been given to the importance of attracting industry by insuring the future of our local country club, updating our airport, improving our roads, etc. I ask that the public, as well as the Fiscal Court, consider the image we can portray by supporting the efforts of both past and present Adair County High School band members. A trip to Macy's Thanksgiving Parade is the hard earned honor of so many Adair Countians.

While it may not be more important than other worthy uses of our funds, it should never be deemed less important. Please, support the request for $10,000. The students will benefit - all others are happy to pay our own way.

Thank you,

s/Jaime Willis White
