Critique: Election eve concert a night to remember

Charles Miller has high praise for all involved in pre-election concert at Columbia Baptist Church, including Dr. Chaffin and LWC Ensemble, Mr. Jack Griffin and Louisville Orchestra String Sextet, Dr. Robert Reynolds, Sara Keller and Nicole Moyer.

This writer has seldom, in his sixty-plus years, enjoyed an election eve concert as much as he did on Monday evening. Even before the concert officially began, the listeners were blessed with several outstanding prelude numbers, performed by a string sextet from the Louisville Symphony Orchestra, led by Mr. Jack Griffin. That prelude period, however, was only an appetizer.

Letter: Proud of ACHS Band, football team

About: Congratulations to Adair County High School band

As a Band parent, I would like to thank the ACHS Football team and Coach Graves for being at the State Competition to support the Band students.

It meant so much to the kids, and impressed other bands there that, we had the support of the Football team. This is a fine group of young men being led by a man of character.

I was also proud to hear a letter from a Russell County parent read on the radio this morning. It commended the team and Coach Graves for bringing both teams to the field in a prayer vigil when a RCHS athlete was hurt. I am proud of both of these organizations!

s/Teresa Richard

Reminder: Residents of Greenhills, Parrott Avenue vote in City

    By Linda Waggener

Voters who are residents of newly annexed Greenhills and Parrott Avenue can vote for City Council members in the election today, Tuesday, November 4, 2008.

Greenhills voters who live in the newly annexed area should automatically be listed as eligible to vote the City ballot, Adair County Court Clerk Sheila Blair said.

But Parrott Avenue residents may need to remind poll workers that they wish to vote as a City resident. Their voting address will need to be "Parrott Avenue," Clerk Blair said. She added that the reason for the difference is that the Parrott Avenue annexation only became official on Tuesday, October 28, 2008.
