ACSO finally apprehends man in 4-day long operation

ACSO Deputies Hitch and Keith first attempt to serve warrants at residence on Old Portland Road, where they locate him hiding in a garage but his escape on foot was successful for a time. Four days later, officers locate 43 year old Columbia man's car on Mitchell Street in Columbia and notice him trying to flee on foot again. This time Sheriff Harrison Moss and Trooper Begley apprehend him.Click on headline for complete ACSO report
Issuance of warrants and/or arrests are not findings of guilt. An individual charged by police or in a warrant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

From Adair County Sheriff's Office

On Thursday April 21, 2016 Deputy Hitch along with Deputy Keith were at a residence on Old Portland Road acting on a tip to locate a suspect with numerous warrants.

Upon speaking with the owner, deputies located Jeffrey Wright age 43 of Columbia, inside a garage.

CHS triplets have been chosen to attend the Governor's Scholars Program this summer and will attend programs at either Morehead State, Murray State or Bellarmine universities for five weeks before starting their senior year. Though they don't know yet when they will attend, what campus they will go to or what area of study they will focus on, the Lambs say they are excited for the opportunity to attend the program. Triplets, students at Cville High School, to attend GSP

BOWLING GREEN, KY (Mon 25 Apr 2016) - Lindsey Wilson swept its third straight opponent in the Mid-South Conference Women's Tennis Tournament today, beating Cumberland (TN) 6-0 en route to winning the title at Kereiakes Park.

The top-seeded Blue Raiders (18-4) claim their 12th consecutive Mid-South Tournament crown with the win. Lindsey Wilson did not drop a match, out-pointing the opposition 16-0 during the three-day tournament.

Lertie O. Conner, Russell Co., KY (1918-2016)

She was a homemaker and a member of a very large, respected South Central Kentucky family. She was a native of Russell County, KY and a resident of the county at the time of her death in Columbia, Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late William Dudley Conner and the late Louetta Guffey Conner, and the widow of Murrel Conner. She leaves 23 direct descendants spanning four generations. She was the last of a generation of 11 siblings.

Free Tipping was a huge success on Sat 23 Apr 2016

Free tipping on Saturday was a huge success. Over 32 tons were delivered to the Transfer Station, 877 L. Willis Road, Columbia, KY on Friday and a little over 38.5 tons on Saturday, for a total of around 71 tons of trash brought in in the two days of free tipping for Adair County residents.

Catherine O'Banion Sutton, Taylor Co., KY (1925-2016)

She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, a past Worthy Matron of the Pitman Chapter 157 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and former member of the Disable American Veterans Auxiliary. She was the widow first of Harvey Turner O'Banion and later of Fred Wesley Sutton. She was the daughter of the late Willard Vernon Gupton and Lucetta Yankey Gupton. She was the matriarch of a large, highly regarded family. She leaves 33 direct and 10 step living descendants.
