Triplets, students at Cville High School, to attend GSP By Calen McKinney Campbellsville High School triplets Laura Lamb, Murphy Lamb and Blair Lamb have been chosen to attend the Governor's Scholars Program this summer. The Lambs, juniors at CHS, will attend programs at either Morehead State, Murray State or Bellarmine universities for five weeks this summer. Though they don't know yet when they will attend, what campus they will go to or what area of study they will focus on, the Lambs say they are excited for the opportunity to attend the program. Created in 1983, the goal of GSP is to provide academic and personal growth through a liberal arts program with a residential life experience. Students must complete an application to attend GSP, and those selected attend for free. CHS Principal Kirby Smith said the GSP application process is extremely competitive. Each school district is given a specific number of applications it can submit, based on enrollment. CHS can submit four applications each year, he said, and can ask permission to submit more. This year, five CHS students submitted applications. Nearly 2,000 high school students in Kentucky applied to attend GSP and a little more than 1,000 were chosen to attend. Students apply during the junior year of high school, and attend the program the summer before their senior year. This story was posted on 2016-04-25 19:27:29
