Catherine O'Banion Sutton, Taylor Co., KY (1925-2016)

She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, a past Worthy Matron of the Pitman Chapter 157 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and former member of the Disable American Veterans Auxiliary. She was the widow first of Harvey Turner O'Banion and later of Fred Wesley Sutton. She was the daughter of the late Willard Vernon Gupton and Lucetta Yankey Gupton. She was the matriarch of a large, highly regarded family. She leaves 33 direct and 10 step living descendants.

The funeral services will be at 10amCT/11amET, Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, by Bro. Mark Graham and Bro. Brent Gupton and Dr. James Jones.Eastern Star service will be at 5pmCT/6pmET, Tuesday, April 26, 2016. Burial will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 700 Old U.S. 68, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, Tuesday, Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.



Catherine O'Banion Sutton, Taylor Co., KY (1925-2016)


Catherine O'Banion Sutton was the daughter of the late Willard Vernon Gupton and Lucetta Yankey Gupton. She was born June 20, 1925, in Marion County, KY. She died Saturday, April 23, 2016 in Campbellsville, KY, at the age of 90 years, 10 monthsm, and three days.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Pitman Chapter 157 Order of Eastern Star, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and former member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.

She united in marriage to Harvey Turner O'Banion February 24, 1943. He preceded her in death February 28, 1975.

She united in marriage to Fred Wesley Sutton July 13, 1985. He preceded her in death September 13, 1997.

She was preceded in death by one son, James Michael O'Banion, October 8, 2011.

She is survived by:
  • One son and one daughter: Bobby O'Banion and wife, Judy of Union, KY; and Sue Powell and husband, Danny of Elizabethtown, KY

  • Four step-children: Lisa Janes of Campbellsville, KY; Donnie Sutton and Jeannie Clark of Hampton, VA; Debbie Moore of Poquoson, VA

  • Eight grandchildren: Michelle Dobson and husband, Barry, Steve Powell and wife, Paula, Kellie Teddar and Bobbi Jo O'Banion all of Campbellsville; Richard Powell and wife, Jenny of Elizabethtown, KY; Tonya Roberts of Bardstown, KY; Wendy Herper and husband, Devin of Martinsville, IN; and Amanda Reeves and husband, Mike of Union, KY

  • Eighteen great-grandchildren

  • Five step-grandchildren

  • One step-great-grandchild

  • Five great-great-grandchildren

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • and many other relatives and friends
She was also preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters: Ulysess Gupton, Lud Gupton, Fred Gupton, James Gupton, Charlie Bob Gupton, Thornton Gupton, Mary Minor, Belle Hardesty and Frances Graham.
