Shannon Sexton, PAC Chair writes:
Good morning! I just wanted to follow up on Mr. Mashburn's question. If the wet petition is validated and the vote is passed, generally restaurants, gas stations and package stores would be able to sell alcohol based on applying for a license and one being granted to them. Package stores will be limited in quantity based on the size of our community. No sellers have been preordained. ABC would review and grant any and all licenses. Thanks - Shannon Sexton - PAC Chair

Principal Jones offers to arrange demonstration of writing code

Principal of ACPC explains what code is and what students have been doing in "Hour of Code"
Click on headline for complete story

By Patty Jones

Coding is what the designers of the internet, software programmers, and video game designers do on a daily basis. It is writing the controls for a program for a website, computer program, or video game that allows the components of the program to run. If you have ever played Pac-Man or fooled around with a drawing tool on the computer you have benefited from the "code" that someone wrote for that program.

In the activity that the students at ACPC completed they wrote the "code" for a bird to move through a maze to catch a pig, or they allowed Anna and Elsa from Frozen to draw snowflakes, or they designed Minecraft (a game I still don't quite know much about) designs.

Carol Perkins: New York City at Christmas

Carol and her group have delightful time in New York City at its busiest time fo the year. She notes that people are alike, everywhere - especially the bonds between cafes and their 'regulars,' and group has new great friends at Lindy's. And, as she left, a very pleasant surprise, seeing folks from home at the airport.
Last week's column: Carol Perkins: Identity crisis at airport security

By Carol Perkins

New York City at Christmas is like no place else on earth.

For that reason, my friend Judy and I decided to become "tour guides" and take a group of women to the Big Apple for the lights, the tree, the plays, and the Rockettes. We weren't the only ones with this plan. The first week in December brings more tourists to the city than during any other time of the year because of the lighting of the tree in Rockefeller Center and shopping at the many famous department stores.

There were twelve of us and none wanted to miss any part of the city for the five days we were there, so we didn't.

We arrived on Tuesday to a downpour but we splashed our way around Rockefeller Center waiting to begin the first leg of the trip, the spectacular Christmas show presented by the renowned Rockettes.

Charles Marshburn: Who will sell if Wet vote passes

About: PAC changes course: Going for countywide wet-dry

Charles Marshburn writes:
Should this pass, WHO will be selling alcoholic beverages in the city and county? Has this been preordained? - Charles Marshburn
Thanks, Charles Marshburn - Short answer: I don't know WHO will be selling. But stay tuned. I'd doubt this situation is a "preordained" one. But it is not unheard of for precinct only petitions to be designed to allow sales at a single location, as recent successful elections in Green County seem to have been. - EW
