George M. Rice: Loved Celia's story about Jack

His own dog is also a Jack Russell and a very smart dog . . . and he notes the difference between a dog and a cat: 'Scold a dog and it forgets and forgives; scold a cat and it gets even and carries a grudge for a while,' - GEORGE M. RICE writes.

By George M. Rice writes:
Loved Celia's story about Jack. Our dog is also a Jack Russell and a very smart dog. I've always said that God made dogs especially to be a friend to mankind. No other animal will bond like a dog. A cat will bond, but on its own terms, if it wants to and when it wants to. --

Darryl Smith narrows single peony to Claire de Lune hybrid

Darryl Smith writes:
When can we expect to receive our prizes? Just kidding... but I did some further research (ok, I Googled) and it is indeed a hybrid Peony. Paeonia 'Claire de Lune' (single Peony). To quote Perennials.com: "This single-flowered, Japanese type has delicate, creamy-yellow to ivory petals, with a contrasting yellow centre to the flower. Very early."

Also, they are known to have the slight pinkish cast as exhibited by Mr. Fudges example early in the bloom stage.

The Claire de Lune name I guessed was triggered by a memory of my late Grandmother's Peony that she treasured.

Thank you for all you do, Ed. - Darryl Smith
