Al Schubert, Adair County, KY (1939-2015)

He was a member of a highly regarded Adair County family. He leaves 15 direct and two step living descendants. His wife, Rhoda Knifley Schubert, survives. He was retired from the Chicago Police Department after 27 years and was a U.S. Army Veteran. After moving to Columbia, he was a home inspector, served as Constable in District 3 and a member of Columbia Christian Church.

Al Schubert, 75, of Columbia, KY, died Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital in Bowling Green, KY.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 1pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Raymond Martin officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with full military honors presented by VFW Post 6097. Visitation after 9amCT, Wednesday, at the funeral home.

He was born July 29, 1939, in Chicago, IL. He died Sunday, May 10, 2015, in Bowling Green, Warren County, KY, at the age of 75 years, nine months, and 11 days.

He was retired from the Chicago Police Department after 27 years and a U.S. Army Veteran. After moving to Columbia, he was a home inspector, served as Constable in District 3 and a member of Columbia Christian Church.

Survivors include:
  • His wife: Rhoda Knifley Schubert of Columbia, KY

  • One son: Curt Schubert of Chicago, IL

  • One daughter: Michelle Schubert of Arkansas

  • Two Stepsons: Anthony Garrett of Chicago & Daryl Garrett of Columbia, KY

  • Two brothers: Donald Mitchess of Florida, and Gene Schubert of New Mexico

  • Nine grandchildren

  • Four great-grandchildren
